E250 bluetech mileage announced

Kinja'd!!!

28 city 45 highway.

That's with an e-class and 195 hp and 369 ft-lbs. yes please. As a bonus its $500 cheaper than the E350. diesel for the win. Im going to add that the e250 has a 21 gallon tank. That's nearly 1000 freeway miles on one tank, or LA to Denver nonstop. Hello cannonball.

As long as I can get it with the hood ornament, I just might be looking at this and a 530d (once BMW gets their act together)

I might not buy one, but its tempting for an older oil-burning Benz driver.

You can get it with a hood ornament in Europe. Not sure about the US.

A quick glace at MBUSA says if you get the Luxury package (whatever that implies. I think it means non-sport pack) you get the ornament.

Sport pack cars have the grille star. Supposedly there is an optional extra which lights up.

This is the case in Europe too. Luxury trims get the hood ornament while sporty ones get the star on the grille. It's been like that for years.

So that B180 CDI they gave me at the airport is really a B180 CDI Sport?

My mind reference is W210s and older. Although not having to wait to start is pretty nice.

Wow. And how about the AWD model rated at 27/42. Pretty damn impressive.

Nope. This doesn't apply to compact (A, B...) or inherently sporty models (SL, CL, SLK...). Just the saloons.

Can I say I'm not actually shocked at the current Stuttgart absurdity? :)

Besides, that B180 is only sporty in the way a Frenchman becomes an absurd lunatic behind the wheel of a 1.6L diesel Renault on the A16

Is this before or after any govt incentives?

The clean diesel government incentive program ran out in 2012.

I was never a big merc fan, but damn if that isn't impressive. Pretty damn good looking too. Interesting, very interesting.

I love when auto companies make me reevaluate their brand.

your still getting 2-3x what someone else in an e63 will be getting. Fact is, fuel stops eat at your average speed a lot more than going a little faster will help them.

It would be a dream come true if we got a diesel engine in the Jeep version of the panda 4x4 that's supposedly coming. How cool would that be?

oh no doubt. You cant do e63 speeds anyways...and the acceleration difference doesnt matter over the long run. Hell sign me up

First off-I'm a big gumball/cannonball record fan. But why do people think these diesels will be good gumball cars? I understand the mileage is great, but people are not taking into account the efficiency of diesels at high speeds, which to put lightly is shit. The Cayenne Diesel gets something like 29mpg on EPA highway ratings, but at 90+ it probably gets something like 20-22 mpg. Lack of horsepower is what kills the high speed mileage. I'd assume this E250 would get somewhere in the ballpark of 30-32. Cars like a 997 Turbo w/PDK would undoubtedly get better mileage than that.

having driven my tdi regularly at 80 mph (legal in Utah) I don't share your views. I get 45 mpg cruising at 80 with a full load and at elevation. I've seen much higher speeds and didn't notice a big drop in mileage (40 or so). I'm not sure if you are speaking from personal experience, but 3 years of tdi ownership contradict your statement. I'de be really impressed to see a 911 (turbo or not) average 30+ mpg at 90+.
